Nunweiler Women Recipes
This week we are doing something a bit different. My grandson will be baptized this wekend and we will be having a family celebration afterwards. The recipes that were caled for are recipes that have been used by my mother and myself for special family occaions ever since I can remember, and that is the only time these foods are prepared. Therefore, we have declared them "Genealogical" recipes. Now, we are about to share them with our readers, and we hope that some of you will also start such a tradition. (Note - Some recipes have been translated to utilize modern technology) Mashed Potato Cookies Oatmeal Raisin
Mashed Potatoes (enough for two servings 1/2 cup each)1 Cup Brown Sugar1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar3/4 Cup Margarine2 Eggs1/4 Cup Water1 Teaspoon Vanilla1 Cup Flour1 Teaspoon Salt1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda1 Teaspoon Cinnamon1/2 Teaspoon Ginger1 Cup Rainsins3 Cups Quick-Cooking Oats Soften Margine in Microwave for 30 seconds, then cream with sugar, add water eggs, mash potatoes and vanilla.
Add salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger and flour, mix together, add oats and raisins.
Drop by spoonful onto lightly greased pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until set, not brown. Cool. Store in airtight container. Mashed Potatoe Cookies II Oatmeal - Butterscotch Cookies
Same recipe as above with the following differences - 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg replaces 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 Cup Butterscotch Morsels replaces 1 Cup Raisins
Mix and bake as per above recipe.
Chocolate Cherry Bars - 1 Package Chocolate Cake Mix
- 21 Ounce Can Cherry Pie Filling
- 1 Teaspoon Rum (or Rim extract can be substituted)
- 2 Eggs
Lightly Grease and flour a 15 x 10" Jelly roll pan. Combine all ingredients, mix by hand until all dry ingredients are moisened. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 - 30 Minutes (or until toothpick inserted comes out clean) Remove from oven cool in pan. Frost Frosting - ! Can premade chocolate frosting
- 1 Teaspoon Run (Rum Extract may be Substituted)
