Joshua Palmerton

Joshua Palmerton was born in Danby, Rutland, Vermont on March 3, 1785, the son of John Palmerton (B 3/3/1759 Danby, Rutland, Vermont: D: 7/31/1826 Saratoga, NY) and Elizabeth Wilbor (B:5/13/1759 Little Compton, Newport, Rhode Island D: 1853 Collins, Erie County, NY). Joshua's parents were married on December 4, 1776 in Clarindon, Rutland, Vermont. Palmerton came from Danby, Vermont to Concord (Collins) in 1809.

Joshua's mother, Elizabeth Wilbor, was the daughter of George Wilbor (B: 9/23/1718 in Portsmouth, , Rhode Island; D:  1777) and Deborah Randall (B: 9/24/1721 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts). Deborah and George were married about 1747 in Little Compton, Newport, Rhode Island.

Joshua married Hannah Nichols, the daughter of James Nichols and Eunice Cook, on January 12, 1826 in Danby, Vermont.

Lydia died December 25, 1848 she is buried in the Collins Center Cemetery  Gilbert Palmer Smith was born on 10/19/1812 in Danby, Rutland, Vermont the son of Barak Smith and  Mary Elizabeth Palmer. He died on 19 Jul 1900 in , Guthrie, Iowa and was buried in Springdale, Cedar, Iowa.

He married Rebecca Hoopes Maris, daughter of Owen Maris and Rachel Jenkins, on December 14, 1865 in Cedar River, Cedar, Iowa. Emily Adeline Smith B: May 2, 1841 D:January 30, 1918. She married Eratus L Harris on February 11, 1863. Daniel Wheeler Smith B: February 6, 1843, Collins, Erie, NY D: March 30, 1918, Norwalk, Los Angeles, California. He married Narcissa Macy on May 28, 1870 in Springdale, Cedar, Iowa. Hannah Arletta Smith, B: June 17, 1845 Collins, Erie, NY, D: January 28, 1927 Albion, Marshall, Iowa. Married Jesse Binford, November 17, 1864 in Tipton, Cedar, Iowa. Mary Elizabeth Smith B: August 21, 1847 Collins Center, Erie, NY D: December 12, 1931 Waukon, Allamakee, Iowa. She married George Jenkins Maris, son of Owen Maris and Rachel Jenkins on June 2, 1865 in Tipton, Cedar, Iowa.

Joshua Palmerton  died on July 12,l 1871 in Collins Center, Erie, New York  Both Joshua and Hannah are buried in the Quaker Cemetery on Route 39 between the hamlets of Collins and Collins Center.
